House extensions or new build, we've got you covered.
Piled reinforced concrete ground beams are a reliable and widely used foundation solution for new builds and home extensions. At Alternative Piling Solutions, we specialise in designing and installing ground beam systems that provide exceptional structural support across a range of site conditions.
This method is particularly recommended for projects requiring water authority build-over agreements, as well as sites with established trees where root protection is essential. By combining piling with reinforced ground beams, loads are safely transferred to deeper, stable ground, reducing the risk of movement and ensuring long-term durability.
Serving clients across the South West, Alternative Piling Solutions delivers expert piling and ground beam installations tailored to each project’s requirements.
Piled Reinforced Concrete Ground Beams.
A piled reinforced concrete ground beam is an ideal system for both made up ground and areas with trees as it allows for the heave and shrinkage in the clay.
Screw piles are extremely shrub and tree friendly as the slender shaft causes virtually no damage to the root systems.
There is little noise or ground disturbance and the piles can be installed into most ground types with minimal muck away. Our hand-held installation option will allow for installation in small spaces or sites with limited access. We offer different sized piles to suit your required loadings.
Advantages.
The Process.
We will work to the structural engineer design and calculations for your project, which will determine the pile size and quantity and an individual load per pile, to ensure that the structure is correctly supported. A foundation trench will be dug to a depth of approximately 600mm to accommodate the ground beam. The pile positions are then marked out and each helical screw pile is then installed with a digger mounted or hand-held torque head.
Peace Of Mind.
During installation a gauge constantly measures and monitors the resistance; our installation team will use these readings to reach the required load for each individual pile. If required, heave protection is installed and then the steel reinforced cages are fitted in the trench, over the piles.
Quality Assurance.
Each pile is topped with a rebar head and the concrete is poured to form the ground beam in preparation for the superstructure. The readings during installation are logged and this forms the pile log that we provide you with which confirms that the piles have been installed to the structural engineers plans and calculations, buildings regulations will require this.
