Issues with tree roots or other landscape features?
At Alternative Piling Solutions, we specialise in piled reinforced suspended concrete slabs – the ideal foundation system for building within tree protection zones. This method is highly recommended by arboriculturists as it significantly reduces ground disturbance and protects critical tree root structures.
Our piled concrete slab solutions are perfectly suited for home extensions, developments on made-up or unstable ground, sites affected by tree root constraints, and water build-over projects. By transferring structural loads to deeper, more stable ground, our piling systems provide a long-lasting, reliable alternative to traditional foundations.
With extensive experience across the South West, Alternative Piling Solutions delivers expert piling services tailored to challenging ground conditions and environmentally sensitive sites.
Piled Reinforced Concrete Slabs (Suspended in Tree Areas).
The advantages are many; there is no excavation required thus no muck away and our handheld installation option allows for installation in small spaces or sites with limited access.
There is little noise or ground disturbance and they can be installed into most ground types. A piled reinforced suspended concrete slab is an ideal system for both made up ground and areas with trees as there is no weight directly put onto the tree’s root systems and it allows for ground movement.
The screw piles are extremely shrub and tree friendly as the slender shaft causes virtually no damage to the root systems and are therefore highly recommended by arboriculturists. We offer different sized piles to suit your required loadings.
Advantages.
The Process.
We will work to the structural engineer’s design and calculations for your project which will determine the pile size, quantity and an individual load per pile, to ensure that the structure is correctly supported. The ground will be prepared and pile positions marked out and then each helical screw pile is installed with a digger mounted or hand-held torque head.
Peace Of Mind.
During installation a gauge constantly measures and monitors the resistance; our installation team will use these readings to reach the required load for each individual pile. On the suspended slab a void former is fitted before laying a membrane. Piles are topped and steel reinforced mesh is fitted before the concrete slab is poured.
Quality Assurance.
Once cured the slab is ready for the super structure. The readings during installation are logged and this forms the pile log that we provide you with which confirms that the piles have been installed to the structural engineers plans and calculations, buildings regulations will require this.
